What we believe

1) We believe that the Bible is the inspired and unchangeable Word of God. It sets out God's plan of salvation for mankind and provides guidance for our daily lives. It is relevant and sufficient to meet all our needs.

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness"  II Timothy 3v16

2) We believe that mankind is born in a sinful condition and that our sin separates us from God. If we die in this condition we will bear the righteous punishment of God throughout eternity in the place called Hell.

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6v23

3) We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He became a man in order that He might die as a substitute for sinners. By dying, the Lord Jesus Christ bore the punishment that we deserved for our sins - He took our place. The Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead three days after His death and is now seated at the right hand of God in heaven.

"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high" Hebrews 1 v1-3

4) We believe that Salvation and deliverance from the power and penalty of sin can only be obtained through repentance and faith in the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. Only those that have personally accepted God's salvation will be in Heaven.

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts 4v12

5) We believe that those who have been saved should be baptised and meet together as a local church, gathered in the name of the Lord Jesus according to the pattern taught in the New Testament.

"And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayer." Acts 2v42
